The shade is built from dozens of small pine segments, cut and joined so that the end grain and growth rings turn in a different direction on every piece. The result is a mosaic of curved grain patterns covering the shade both inside and out, a fine example of Swedish woodworking craft.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe silhouette rises from a softly scalloped lower edge into a full, rounded body and finishes in a hand-turned pine top. Seen from below, the interior opens like a flower, with the segments radiating from the socket toward the petal-shaped rim.
