Aimo Nietosvuori Jie Gantofta Wall Plaque 847, Orange Red Flower Relief Tile, Green Glazed Ceramic Wall Art, Swedish Mid Century

Aimo Nietosvuori for Jie Gantofta – Wall Plaque No. 847 with Orange and Red Flowers

A cheerful vintage Swedish ceramic wall plaque designed by Aimo Nietosvuori for Jie Gantofta. A bouquet of orange and red flowers with dark centres and fresh green leaves is modelled in relief inside an oval medallion of unglazed clay. The medallion is framed by a beaded border and a deep, glossy green glaze.

Jie Gantofta was a Swedish ceramics workshop, active from 1942 to 1992. Aimo Nietosvuori was one of its best-known designers, famous for his botanical relief plaques.

The plaque still has its original black and white Jie Gantofta Sweden label on the front. The back is impressed with the model number 847, the Jie mark and the designer’s mark, and it has a wire hanger.
