Primitive Swedish Folk Art Dining Set c. 1910, Antique Hand Carved Pine Trestle Table with 4 Chairs, Scandinavian Allmoge Furniture

A genuinely primitive antique Swedish folk art dining set from the early 20th century, circa 1910–1920. Made of solid pine, the set consists of an extendable trestle dining table and four matching chairs, all showing the honest, unpolished character and deep patina that only more than a century of everyday use can create.

The table is the heart of the set: substantial carved trestle supports joined by a traditional stretcher construction, with simple hand-carved stylized floral motifs on the legs. The same motifs are repeated on the chair backs, so the whole set carries one distinctive Swedish folk art character.

Two extension leaves are included, so the dining surface can be enlarged when needed.

The four chairs keep their simple, primitive rural construction: broad shaped backs, solid wooden seats and traditional joinery. Their age-related wear, variations in tone, marks and surface patina are an important part of the set’s history and authentic antique character.

This is not a modern reproduction or an artificially distressed farmhouse set, but genuine early Scandinavian country furniture made for everyday rural life. It is especially beautiful in a cottage, farmhouse, country house, or a primitive or Scandinavian folk-inspired interior.
