Four small paintings in porcelain-white frames: this set of oval wall plaques was designed by Swedish artist Carl Anton Axelsson for Rörstrand in the 1980s. His loose, watercolor-like style captures the light of the Swedish coast through the year.

The scenes:

  • Winter at the shore: snow, frosted grasses and a pink glow over the water.
  • Summer in the archipelago: purple heather, tall pines and white sailboats.
  • The harbor city: a sunlit view over rooftops and water, inspired by Stockholm.
  • An autumn lake: pastel morning sky and golden leaves along the shoreline.

Each plaque is signed CARLANTON within the picture, and two still have their original gold Rörstrand Sweden labels.

Condition: excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs.

Displayed side by side or as a small gallery wall, they make a calm, light Scandinavian accent for an entryway, a bedroom or a coastal-style home, and a thoughtful gift for anyone with Swedish roots.
