Munk Keramik, Enköping, Sweden – Stoneware Dish with Fleur-de-Lis Seal
A striking vintage Swedish stoneware dish by Munk Keramik of Enköping, with a soft square shape and a raised rim. The centre is decorated like a medieval town seal: a white fleur-de-lis on an ochre ground, framed by a chain border and a ring of Gothic-style lettering. The seal sits on a soft green field. Around it, a deep glaze shades from dark green to brown and blue-grey.
The fleur-de-lis is the old symbol of Enköping, the Swedish town where Munk Keramik was based. It appeared on the town’s seal as early as the 14th century.
The underside is signed “Munk” with the workshop mark.
