Swedish Folk Art Painted Wood Relief, Rural Cottage Scene, Vintage Wall Art

A richly detailed vintage Swedish folk art wooden relief depicting a gathering inside a traditional rural cottage. Raised figures, textured painted surfaces and warm brown wood tones give the scene depth and a lively, storytelling character. A black-painted border with a narrow yellow inner line frames the composition.

The scene brings together seated villagers, women in headscarves and a central figure wearing black clerical-style clothing and round spectacles. Behind them are timber walls, a window with a striped valance and a small floral wall clock. At the right, a white fireplace, a suspended cooking pot and a curled black cat complete the domestic setting. The earthy brown, cream, black, green and muted red palette suits collected Scandinavian interiors and country cottage decor.

The relief has an uneven, textured finish, with lines and small fissures visible in some painted areas. The reverse shows natural wood grain, knots and marks from previous use. Display and care
