Tomas Anagrius Vase Pair, Swedish Mid Century Stoneware, Incised Studio Pottery Vases, Alingsas Konsthantverkaren 1960s, Scandinavian Modern

A pair of hand-thrown Swedish stoneware vases by Tomas Anagrius (born 1939), made at his own studio in Alingsås, Sweden, in the 1960s. Both vases share the same matte dark brown neck and the characteristic Anagrius incised decor, with green glaze set into the carved lines.

The taller vase has a tapered shape in speckled sand tones, with three rows of incised vertical marks and a small carved star. The second vase is cylindrical in warm tan, decorated with a large carved sun medallion.

Tomas Anagrius trained at Konstfack in Stockholm from 1956 to 1961, opened his first studio in Alingsås in 1963 and moved to Kvidinge in Skåne in 1967. His work is represented at the Nationalmuseum and the Nordic Museum in Stockholm and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.

This listing is for the pair (2 vases).
