A pair of hand-carved wooden wall candle holders from Sweden, stamped on the back with the Ahrneberg workshop mark – the maker’s name in Gothic lettering with an axe emblem. Ahrnebergs worked in Insjön, Leksand, in the heart of Dalarna, making candlesticks, bowls and spoons in wood, as well as wrought iron candle holders.
Each shield-shaped backplate was carved entirely by hand. Fluted gouge cuts fan out across the top like a crest, long leaf-like lines curve down both sides, and the surface is worked in gentle waves that catch the candlelight. The faceted candle cup at the base is carved from a single block, every facet cut by hand. The warm, shaded finish deepens towards the edges, giving each piece a rich, three-dimensional look. This is hours of skilled handwork from a Dalarna craft tradition – no two pieces are exactly alike.
Hang them on either side of a mirror, a window or a fireplace for a warm Scandinavian, cabin or rustic interior.
